Mr. Edward Lee Coan

Mr. Edward Lee Coan, 60 years old, of Toccoa, GA, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 14th, at the Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center, surrounded by loving friends and family.  He was a multiple myeloma cancer warrior for eight years and fought valiantly.

Born July 4, 1962 in Peru, Indiana, he was the son of the late Barbara Ellen Dodson.

Mr. Coan was a member of The Torch in Demorest, GA, and was a truck driver for Tugaloo Gas and Hulsey Transport.  He was a Shriner and a Mason, and served in the United States Navy on the USS Forrestal as a fireman from 1980 – 1984.

Ed’s priorities were God, family and friends.  His courage and determination uplifted us all throughout his battle.  We are happy he has no pain and no longer suffers.  We will see him again.  In Ed’s words, “I will be waiting”.

Family members include his wife, Sherry Carter Coan; daughters, Niki Ferguson (Rick), Melissa King (Kyle) and Erin Coan; sons, Brandon Coan (Julie) and Cory Casteel; grandchildren, Tara, Kailee, Bristol, and Charlie Jo; sisters, Teresa Harris and Wendi Swenson; brothers, Chris Coan, Fred Coan (Jeanette), Randy Coan and Rob Coan; and father Robert Edgar Coan and his wife Sharon.

He was preceded in death by a beloved brother, Raymond Powers.
