Motorcyle Accident Results in Fatality

An accident involving a motorcycle on Saturday morning results in a fatality.

According to Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley, the accident occurred just after 7 a.m. Saturday morning in the north bound lane of Highway 17 in Eastanollee at the Chevron.

The motorcycle victim, Michael Stewart, 26 of Eastanollee, lost control and struck the rear end of a red GMC Sierra.

Stewart was thrown from the bike coming to rest at the guard rail. He died instantly.

The driver of the truck did not stop and was later located near the Toccoa raceway. Georgia State Patrol is investigating further as the truck driver may not have known the bike clipped him.
