Mom Prom Coming Up As Family Connection Fundraiser

A fundraiser coming up later this month will look to raise money for programs run by Family Connection of Stephens County.

The event is the “Mom Prom” and it is coming up on Saturday, May 14 at 7 p.m. at the Cornerstone Restaurant/X-Factor Grill in downtown Toccoa.

Stephens County Family Connection Coordinator Allyson Warren said it is going to be a fun night, all to help a good cause.

Warren said one of the programs that will benefit from the money raised at the “Mom Prom” is the Stephens County Read-At-Home Program.

“It sends age appropriate books each month for free to children under the age of five in the county,” said Warren.

Warren said that the money will also go to help the First Steps program.

She explained that is a new program in Stephens County.

“We have only had it since October,” said Warren. “Any mom with a child under the age of five qualifies for First Steps and our coordinator comes out and provides education, support, and all kinds of goodies for them.”

Tickets for the “Mom Prom” are $40 in advance and $50 at the door on the night of May 14.

Those tickets can be purchased at South State Bank in Toccoa or by searching for Stephens County Mom Prom at eventbright.com.

All ladies age 21 and older are invited.

Warren said it is just a chance for ladies to come out and have a fun night to help the community.

“It will be a night you do not want to miss,” said Warren. “It will be all the things you miss about your high school prom without the tacky corsages and the date that will not dance with you. You do not have to be a mom to attend, but you do have to be female.”
