Middle School Sports wrapup for week of Sept. 4

Middle School football

The Stephens County Middle School Rebels football team won their second game in a row last Thursday by defeating Habersham County at The Reservation, 40 to 6.  

Coach Matt Miller says his team is getting better each game.  

Duke Collins led the offense with 2 touchdown pass receptions for 72 yards and a 50 yard punt return for a score.  

Kaidin Harbin added an 80 yard touchdown reception.  

Quarterback Branson Stowe finished with 160 yards passing and 3 touchdowns.  He also added 38 yards on the ground.  

Estavious Scott led the Rebels’ defense with 14 tackles.  Dallas Hague had 2 interceptions, one for a touchdown, and Karunte Riley added 6 tackles.  

Stephens County Middle School will have an open date this Thursday then will be back in action on Thursday, September 21 as they host Hart County at The Reservation with kickoff at 5:30 p.m.

 

Middle School softball

In Middle School softball, Saige Weckesser drove in 5 runs on two hits to lead the Stephens County Middle School Lady Rebels past Franklin County, 9 to 5, last Wednesday night.  

Weckesser doubled in the 5th inning to give the Lady Rebels the lead, 4 to 2.  She also singled in the 7th inning, scoring one run.  

Kacey Wallace got the win on the mound for Stephens County as she surrendered 13 hits and 5 runs over 8 innings, striking out 10 and walking 4.  

In addition to Weckesser, Makayla Rogers also collected 2 hits in the victory.
