Mavis Elizabeth Pruitt Dooley

Mavis Elizabeth Pruitt Dooley, age 86, of Toccoa, Georgia, entered into the presence of the Lord on Wednesday, November 22, 2023.

Mavis was born on October 31, 1937, to the late Woodrow and Ruth Smith Pruitt.  She was a beloved mother and grandmother, a respected businesswoman, and Christian.  At the age of 19, she married the love of her life, Charles Edward Dooley.  Their marriage was blessed by the birth of three sons, Bryan Edward, Charles Keith, and James Barry.

Mavis was well-known in the community as the owner of East Currahee Florist and Bridal Boutique.  With each order, whether for a funeral, wedding, prom, or other special event, she took the utmost care in providing top-notch service.  Each arrangement was created with the “Mavis touch.”  With Christian music always playing in the store, she openly shared her faith in God with others. Until her health prohibited, you would find her on Sunday mornings at Rehoboth Assembly of God.  As her disease progressed, her faith never wavered.  You then would find her at home watching SonLife Broadcasting Network.

Mavis was preceded in death by her parents, Woodrow, and Ruth (Smith) Pruitt, son, Keith Dooley, brothers Wilson Pruitt and William Pruitt, grandsons Jaiden Smith Dooley and Jameson Briggs Dooley, and granddaughter Amaya Elizabeth Dooley.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Charles Edward Dooley of Toccoa, Georgia; sons Bryan Dooley of Toccoa, Georgia and Barry (Kathy) Dooley of Athens, Alabama; grandson, Austin Dooley of Toccoa, Georgia.

Funeral services will be Saturday, November 25, 2023, 2 p.m. in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Mark Stroud and The Reverend Jerrell Beatty officiating.  The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Bryan Dooley, Barry Dooley, Austin Dooley, Stacy Gunn, Jamie Sorrells and Scott Ray.
