Martin man arrested after domestic dispute, drugs

A recent domestic dispute ends with a Martin man behind bars.

According to Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley, on June 20, deputies were dispatched to a residence on Cheyenne Trail, in Martin, due to a domestic dispute.

The complainant also told Stephens County E-911 dispatchers that the aggressor in the dispute planned on having a “shoot-out” with responding law enforcement officers.

After arriving on scene and calming the situation, deputies began to interview the people there.

Shirley told WNEG News that deputies soon became suspicious of one man at the residence.

According to Shirley, his deputies drew suspicion after receiving information of possible drug usage, along with the man’s odd behavior and statements.

Based on all of this, deputies asked for consent to search the man’s vehicle, which he agreed.

During the search of the vehicle, deputies located a quantity of methamphetamine, hidden inside the battery compartment of a flashlight and stashed in an old stove, surrounded by scrap metal, in the bed of his truck.

Michael Jackson, 38, of Martin, was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine.
