Martha Jeanette Defoor Moore

Mrs. Martha Jeanette DeFoor Moore, age 90, of Eastanollee, GA, entered into rest Saturday, October 31, 2020.  Jeanette was born September 24, 1930, in Stephens County where she lived most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Sandford Mack DeFoor and the late Lucy Cleo Looney DeFoor. She was a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church most of her life, Hill Street Baptist for a period of time, and Grace Baptist Church most recently.

Jeanette was a 1947 graduate of Stephens County High School where she excelled in academics and was Captain of the ladies basketball team for two years.  She was a homemaker until her children were in school, then was employed and retired from Penline Garment Company. She also was part-time bookkeeper at M & M Small Engine for a number of years. She served in the church as a Young Girls Sunday School Teacher for many years and sang in the church choir. Gardening was one of her favorite hobbies, along with sewing and quilting.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Randall Moore; five brothers, Waymon DeFoor, Dorsey DeFoor, John DeFoor, Henry DeFoor, Floyd Ray DeFoor; and two sisters, Jessie DeFoor Hollingsworth and Betty Jo DeFoor Whiten.

Family members include two brothers, Maurice DeFoor of Seneca, SC, and Dan DeFoor of Jacksonville, FL; Her children, Mac Moore and wife Debbie Williams Moore of Banks, AL; her daughter, Lynne Moore Matheson and husband Ron Matheson; her son, Kevin Moore and wife Anita Walters Moore; seven grandchildren, Wendy Bennett, Jennifer Glas, Lindsay McCord, Randy Moore, Carimy Cobb, Conrad Moore, and Collin Moore; twelve great-grandchildren, Samantha Fricks, Cami Ippolito, Kaitlyn Bennett, Peyton McCord, Sydney McCord, Savannah Moore, Scarlett Moore, Cameron Cobb, Carstin Cobb, Colyer Cobb, Aria Moore, and Eli Moore; and a large number of greatly loved nieces and nephews.

The family will have a private graveside service at Roselane Cemetery.  The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers; Randy Moore, Jeffrey McCord, Heath Bennett, Deitrich Glas, Conrad Moore, Collin Moore, Cody Cobb.

A service to celebrate Jeanette’s life will be held at two o’clock Wednesday, November 4, 2020 from the Chapel of Whitlock Mortuary with Dr. Wayne Edwards and the Rev. Jerrell Beatty officiating.  The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 12:30 pm until the service on Wednesday.  Due to the conditions concerning the health and well-being of our community, social distancing will be observed.  Those attending the service are encouraged to wear a mask.
