Main Street Toccoa accepting applications for Bridge-the-Gap Funding

Following the Toccoa City Commission’s approval on Monday, Main Street Toccoa announced that a short-term Main Street Toccoa Bridge-the-Gap grant fund has been created to assist those small businesses in Downtown Toccoa that have been adversely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

This grant fund will allocate $250 grants to be used only for the purpose of paying mortgage, rent, or utilities, including water, electricity, gas, or internet to those eligible businesses in Downtown Toccoa.

Due to limitation of funds, this grant will be awarded to the first 27 eligible businesses that apply.

The application period will close when funds are disbursed or by May 15, whichever is sooner.

According to Main Street Manager Christian Hamilton, eligible businesses are those for-profit consumer-facing retail businesses in the downtown district, such as restaurants, retail storefronts, salons, travel agencies, etc.

He says ineligible businesses include non-profits, franchises, auto and auto body repair or sales shops, gas stations, banks, home-based businesses, government entities, or businesses less than 1 year in operation.

Hamilton says the application is entirely online and can be found at www.mainstreettoccoa.com/bridge-the-gap-grant.

Businesses must certify that they are located in the Main Street District and must have a 2020 City of Toccoa Business Licenses number to apply.
