Lumpkin County man arrested for possession of narcotics

The Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office (ARDEO) alongside the Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Office, concluded a short investigation that ended in the arrest of one man.

According to authorities, there were several concerned citizens who provided the Lumpkin County deputies with information regarding suspicious activity.

On Tuesday, Tony Anthony Monteith, 45, of Dahlonega, was arrested after agents seized methamphetamine, marijuana, clonazepam and hydrocodone.

Deputies with the Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Office, estimates the street value of the drugs being close to $2,200.

Monteith was charged with possession of meth with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of schedule IV controlled substance clonazepam, and possession schedule II controlled substance Hydrocodone.

Monteith was transported to the Lumpkin County Detention Center.
