Lula man arrested for DUI in Habersham just days after release from SCJ

A Lula man recently arrested by the Toccoa Police Department is back in jail for Driving Under the Influence.

According to the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office, 22-year-old Devin Mullinax crashed his Jeep Cherokee on Fairview School Road, last Wednesday.

Habersham County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Floyd Canup says Mullinax ran off the road, hit a culvert, and rolled over at least one time.

Mullinax was still in the vehicle when EMS and Fire Personnel arrived on scene.

According to Canup, officers were able to determine that Mullinax was driving under the influence.

Mullinax has been charged with DUI, and possession of illegal narcotics.

Additionally, Mullinax had outstanding arrest warrants for possession of heroin and DUI at the time of the crash.

No one else was involved in the accident.

As WNEG News reported last week, Mullinax was arrested in Toccoa on January 29.

Toccoa Police Chief Jimmy Mize says officers conducted a traffic stop on a Black Jeep Cherokee on Big A Road near the intersection of Bellvue for failing to obey a stop sign and several other traffic violations.

Upon further investigation, Mullinax was arrested for driving under the influence as well as other charges.

Those charges include failure to obey a stop sign, weaving over the roadway, driver exercise due care, possession of an open alcohol container, improper lane change and obstruction of an officer.

Mullinax was transported to the Toccoa Police Department for processing and later transported to the Stephens County Jail for bond.
