Lucille “Cille” Simpson Harvey

Lucille “Cille” Simpson Harvey of KnoxvilleTN passed away on Sunday, November 26 2023.

A daughter of the late Lucille Ritchie Simpson and Alfred Howard Simpson, she was born September 10, 1936 in Toccoa, Georgia, having lived there most of her life before moving to Duluth, Georgia, Barington, Illinois and Walland, Tennessee for a number of years.

Mrs. Harvey graduated from Toccoa High School and Winthrop University in Rock HillSC with a BS in Business Administration. She retired from the Georgia Department of Family and Children Services in 1995 after over 30 years of service. Cille was a member of The First Presbyterian Church while living in Toccoa – she served as an Elder and was President of her Sunday School class and member of the Ladies Circle. After moving to the Atlanta area, she joined Johns Creek Baptist Church where she was an active member of the Bowen Community Sunday School Class. She also enjoyed Ballroom Dancing as a hobby for many years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, H. Dermon Harvey, and her only sister, Claire Simpson Godwin.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Troy Drisdell of Walland, Tennessee and Carol and Duncan Ross of Louisville, Tennessee; Grandchildren:  Leah Wolters (James) of Knoxville, TN and Amanda Drisdell of Walland, TN; Duncan Ross, Jr. (Olivia) of Basalt Colorado, Andrew Ross of Barrington, IL, Abby Ross of Louisville, TN, Heather Ross of Bozeman, MT. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Evelyn and Adaline Wolters and Wyatt Ross and nephew Page (Trip) Godwin of Lakeland, Florida.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 2 at 11 a.m. in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Phil Hargrove officiating. 

The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the service time.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.

Interment will follow in the Toccoa City Cemetery with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory in charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Lucille “Cille” Simpson Harvey.
