Long and Heaton Named October “Spirit of Stephens” Award

During the October 16 Stephens County Board of Education meeting, Dawson Long and Becki Jo Heaton were named the October “Spirit of Stephens” award winners.

Long serves as a paraprofessional and coach at Stephens County Middle School, and Heaton is a kindergarten teacher at Big A Elementary School.

Each month during the school year, the Stephens County School System honors employees with this award. Nominations are accepted from employees and to be eligible, employees must demonstrate a strong commitment to student success; encourage teamwork and assist other staff members; inspire others with a positive outlook and attitude; and perform job responsibilities consistently and professionally.

Stephens County School Superintendent Dr. Connie Franklin announced the winners and praised the employees’ commitment to student success.

“We are pleased to honor Dawson Long and Becki Jo Heaton for their commitment to student success with the ‘Spirit of Stephens’ award for the month of October,” she said. “They represent the compassionate spirit of our schools and community.”
