Local Law Enforcement Make Arrests

The Stephens County Sheriff’s Office arrests an individual after attempting to flee from an officer, leading to a vehicle chase.

On August 17, a Stephens County Sheriff’s deputy initiated a traffic stop on Highway 123 at North Red Rock Road.

The driver of the vehicle, 50-year-old Tracy Mosley, fled and an extended vehicle chase was conducted.

The deputy was able to apprehend Mosley and he was put under arrest and charged with fleeing or attempting to elude police, aggressive driving, reckless driving, driving while license suspended or revoked, expired or no registration and obstructing or hindering law enforcement.

He was transported to the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office.

The Toccoa Police Department has also made some recent arrests involving drug charges.

On August 17, an officer on patrol stopped Cortez Dandwell Hood, age 28, for no tag lights on Stephens Drive.

Hood was found carrying cocaine, crack and marijuana in his vehicle. He was arrested and charged with possession of a schedule II controlled substance, marijuana possession less than an ounce and driving while license suspended or revoked.

Additionally, on August 16, officers responded to a report of a shoplifter at Walmart. According to the arrest report, the suspect, identified as Glenda Marie Adams, age 66, left the store without paying for several food items.

When officers searched Adams’ purse, they found multiple miscellaneous prescription pills and said that she didn’t have the prescription bottles immediately available. She was arrested for theft by shoplifting and prescription drugs not in original container.
