Local business man to be laid to rest on Saturday

A Toccoa business man was killed in a car accident near Stephens County on Monday.

65-year-old Toccoa resident, Hayward Cochran Jr. sustained fatal injuries in the crash on Talmadge Drive.

At the Stephens County Board of Commissioners meeting on Tuesday, Stephens County Commissioner Michelle Ivester spoke of Cochran saying he was an exceptional citizen.

“I would like everyone to keep the family of Hayward Cochran in your prayers,” Ivester said. “He was killed in automobile accident last night (Monday). I think everyone here knows Hayward. He was an outstanding citizen and a dear friend. I really thought a lot of Hayward.”

Cochran owned Cochran’s Cleaning Service, in Toccoa and was a deacon at Crossroads Baptist Church.

Cochran’s funeral is on Saturday, February 29 at Crossroads Baptist Church’s Life Center at 1:00 p.m.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Cochran was 65-years-old.
