Lion Roll in Sweep of Indians

The number-one seed in Region 8-AAA, Hebron Christian Lions girls basketball team scored 62 points in the first half and rolled to an 81-23 win over the Stephens County Lady Indians Friday night at the Currahee Arena.

Despite a tough Hebron Christian defense, A’Niya Mayweather managed to score 9
points to lead Stephens County.

The Lady Indians round out the regular season at 4-20 with a region record of 2-8. They will play in the first round of the Region 8-AAA Tournament Monday afternoon at 3:30 P.M. The opponent will be the Lady Lions of Franklin County, and the game will take place at Monroe Area High School.

The Hebron Christian Boys, also the number one seed in the Region, scored 20 points or more in the first three periods to beat the Stephens County boys 82-64.

Zy Durham had a great effort Friday night for the Indians with 17 points, followed by Nuri Winters with 13 and Colsen Ivey with 12 points.

Stephens County’s boys wrap up the regular season as the number five seed. The Indians overall record is 9-14 and 3-7 in region play and will play Franklin County in the first round of the region tournament Monday afternoon at approximately 5 P.M at Monroe Area.
