Lions Complete Sweep of Indians

Franklin County scored one run in the first inning, added a run in the 6th, and that proved to be enough taking a 2-0 victory over Stephens County Monday night in Region-8 AAA baseball in Carnesville.

The starting pitchers went the distance for both teams in a pitching duel. Franklin County’s Kayne Jenks got the win with a complete game shutout allowing just 3 hits and striking out 8. Stephens County’s Ayden Garmon was outstanding in the loss allowing just 2 runs on 4 hits and striking out 6.

Franklin County scored in the bottom of the 1st inning when Dee Oliver reached on a hit, stole 2nd base, was bunted to 3rd, and scored on AJ Peeples Sacrifice Fly.

The Lions added an insurance run in the 6th inning on Chandler Coulter’s 2-out RBI single.

The Indians fall to 7-8 on the season and 0-3 in Region-8 play. Franklin County is 3-0 in the region and 8-5 overall.

Stephens County returns home Tuesday night to face Oconee County. Franklin County will host Monroe Area.
