Light the Night takes place this evening to celebrate, remember and honor those impacted by breast cancer

Stephens County Hospital will be hosting the second annual Light the Night event tonight to celebrate and honor the fighters, survivors, and those who have lost battles to Breast Cancer.

The event will be held at 6:00 p.m. at Reflections at Lake Toccoa.

Stephens County Hospital spokesman Joley Strickland said October is the nationally-recognized Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but said that it is important to not only spread awareness, but education.

Hospital Radiology Manager Michelle Chitwood updated WNEG News on breast cancer statistics for both women and men, and talked about risk factors associated with breast cancer.

Strickland stressed that the Light the Night event was for the whole community, not just those immediately impacted by breast cancer, and would include testimonials, refreshments and recognize a local resident who has had a huge impact in the community.
