Library director resigns, search begins for replacement

Leslie Allen, Manager of the Toccoa/Stephens County Public Library, has announced her resignation from the position.

In a letter dated provided to WNEG News earlier this week, Allen stated, “With mixed emotions, I announce to our community that I have resigned from my position as manager at Toccoa-Stephens County Public Library. My time at the library has been some of the best years of my life. I am very appreciative to the Library Board of Trustees for allowing me the opportunity to be the library manager. It has been a pleasure to work with the Trustees, the Friends of the Library as well as the Stephens County Commissioners throughout the years.

“I will truly miss the library; it has been my home away from home for many years. I will miss my staff; they have become my family. Together we weathered many storms and emerged stronger and more united each time. I will miss our library patrons; they have loved and supported the library every step of the way.

“While I am excited about new adventures, I will always hold the community close to my heart. I have always considered my role here to be not just a job but a labor love. I want to assure the community that they will continue receiving the excellent customer service they are used to. The library staff are the best around, and I have complete confidence that The Toccoa-Stephens County Public Library will continue to flourish in their care.

“I will always look back fondly on the time spent and the connections I have made here. The library and the community will always be in my thoughts and prayers.
