Liberty Elementary School has one class in quarantine after COVID cluster

An entire class is in quarantine at Liberty Elementary School due to COVID-19.

According to Stephens County Schools Deputy Superintendent Matthew Thompson, the class was placed in quarantine on Tuesday, January 11.

He says anytime there is a cluster of students or staff members who test positive for COVID-19 they are sent home for a period of five days.

He says the class in quarantine will work from home for a period of five days and are set to return to school next week on Tuesday, January 18.

He says the Board of Education decided to handle quarantines different from last year because they wanted to ensure that students who could be in the classrooms remained in the classroom.

Again, the class that’s in quarantine will be able to return to school on Tuesday, January 18.
