Liberty Elementary School Class in quarantine will return to school on Tuesday

The class that has been in quarantine at Liberty Elementary School will return to the classroom on Tuesday.

As WNEG News previously reported, the class was placed in quarantine on January 11, after two students tested positive for COVID-19.

Stephens County Schools Deputy Superintendent Matthew Thompson says anytime there is a cluster of students or staff members who test positive for COVID-19 they are sent home for a period of five days.

He says students in quarantine work from home until they’re able to return to school in person.

He says the Board of Education decided to handle quarantines different from last year because they wanted to ensure that students who could be in the classrooms remained in the classroom.

Again, the class that’s in quarantine will be able to return to school tomorrow, January 18.

WNEG News will continue to follow this story and bring you updates as they become available.
