Lavonia names Ashley Rose Dodd as new Main Street Director

The City of Lavonia has named a new Director for their Main Street program.

She is Ashley Rose Dodd whom you may have seen on a new weekly City of Lavonia Facebook video, Listen Up Lavonia.

Lavonia’s Main Street program has been largely dormant since former director Marie Morse retired several years ago.

According to their website, the Georgia Main Street Program is designed to promote the unique assets of the municipality’s downtown as well as help it work to revitalize and renew its downtown area.

The program launched in 1980 with five local communities and has grown to serve 100+ communities statewide.

Dodd says she’s looking forward to this new opportunity and will be working hand in hand with Downtown Development Authority Director Barbara Busby and the Lavonia Chamber.

Some of the services offered to municipalities involved in the Georgia Main Street program include financial tools, job postings, technical assistance, training, and a resource library.

They offer help with applying for grants and Dodd said she is already working on applying for grants to benefit the downtown area and businesses.
