Latest DPH Report Shows Little Change in Numbers

The Georgia Department of Public Health is still reporting 72 COVID-related deaths in Stephens County with 2,896 residents testing positive for the virus, since the beginning of the global pandemic.

The latest report was released Monday afternoon and only showed 5 new positive cases in the area and no additional deaths.

The latest report has Habersham County with 139 deaths and now 4,561 positive cases of the virus.

In other neighboring counties, Franklin County still has had 39 deaths and 2,286 positive cases, Rabun County is still reporting 1,445 cases and 37 deaths, Hart County is still reporting 1,672 cases and 35 deaths, and Banks County is reporting 33 deaths and now 1,577 cases.

According to the Georgia Department of Public Health, there have been a total of 836,344 positive cases of the virus across the state of Georgia, of those, 57,383 have been hospitalized and the total death count due to complications of the virus has now risen to 15,918.
