Latest DPH Report-Low Cases in Area with One Death

The Georgia Department of Public Health is still reporting 72 COVID-related deaths in Stephens County with 2,904 residents testing positive for the virus, since the beginning of the global pandemic.

The latest report was released Thursday afternoon with very little change in the area numbers with 8 new positive cases in the area and one additional death.

The latest report has another death in Habersham County bringing the total to 140 and now 4,567 positive cases of the virus.

In other neighboring counties, Franklin County still has had 39 deaths and now 2,290 positive cases, Rabun County is now reporting 1,448 cases and 37 deaths, Hart County is now reporting 1,678 cases and 35 deaths, and Banks County is still reporting 33 deaths and 1,579 cases.

According to the Georgia Department of Public Health, there have been a total of 839,823 positive cases of the virus across the state of Georgia, of those, 57,721 have been hospitalized and the total death count due to complications of the virus has now risen to over 16,000 to 16,053.
