Latest DPH Report and Stephens County Hospital Update

The latest report from the Georgia Department of Public Health has Stephens County with 41 deaths related to Covid-19, and 1,280 positive cases of the virus since the beginning of the global pandemic.

The latest report was released Wednesday afternoon.

The latest report now has Habersham County with 78 deaths, and 1,884 total positive cases of the virus.

Locally, Stephens County Hospital and its facilities have tested 5,676 individuals for the virus.

Of those, 1,142 tests have come back positive with 924 patients receiving positive results, 4,404 received negative results, and 36 individuals are still awaiting their results.

According to Stephens County Hospital Chief Executive Officer Mike Hester, they currently have two patients hospitalized at Stephens County Hospital with confirmed case of COVID-19, and three others awaiting results.

In other neighboring counties, Franklin County has had a total of 18 deaths and now 935 positive cases, Hart County has had 16 deaths and 576 cases, Rabun County is still  reporting 11 deaths and now 429 cases, and Banks County is still reporting 8 deaths, but now 555 cases.

Across the state of Georgia, the Department of Public Health is now reporting a total of 355,025 cases, of those, 31,370 have been hospitalized and 7,876 have died from complications of the virus.
