Latest DPH Covid-19 Report for Area

Friday’s report from the Georgia Department of Public Health has Stephens County with a total of 679 positive cases of Covid-19 and 14 deaths due to complications of the virus.

Locally, Stephens County Hospital and its facilities have tested 4,360 individuals for the virus.

Of those, 857 tests have come back positive with 679 patients receiving positive results, 3,478 received negative results, and 25 individuals are still awaiting their results.

Stephens County Hospital Chief Executive Officer Mike Hester says the hospital currently has five patients hospitalized with confirmed cases of Covid-19, and three others who are hospitalized pending test results.

DPH is still reporting 51 deaths in Habersham County and a total of 1,188 positive cases of the virus.

In other neighboring counties,  Hart County has had 336 cases and eight deaths, Franklin County has had 443 cases and six deaths, Banks County has a total of 290 cases and five deaths, and Rabun County at a total of 231 cases and three deaths.

Across the state of Georgia, the Department of Public Health is reporting a total of 231,895 cases, of those, 21,818 have been hospitalized and 4,573 have died from complications of the virus.

The Georgia DPH reported today that positivity rates and hospitalizations have decreased statewide the last two weeks, but is concerned about emerging hotspots in rural Middle Georgia, East Central Georgia, and areas of South Georgia.
