Latest Covid Report Shows Deaths in Habersham and Franklin

The Georgia Department of Public Health is still reporting 72 COVID-related deaths in Stephens County with 2,894 residents testing positive for the virus, since the beginning of the global pandemic.

The latest report was released Saturday afternoon.

The latest report has an additional death in Habersham County bringing the total to 139 and now 4,557 positive cases of the virus, and Franklin County has had two additional deaths bringing the total to 39 and now 2,286 positive cases

In other neighboring counties, Rabun County is now reporting 1,443 cases and 37 deaths, Hart County is reporting 1,672 cases and 35 deaths, and Banks County is reporting one less death with a total of 33 and 1,577 cases.

According to the Georgia Department of Public Health, there have been a total of 834,696 positive cases of the virus across the state of Georgia, of those, 57,334 have been hospitalized and the total death count due to complications of the virus has now risen to 15,872.

The weekly update from the Stephens County School System for the week ending March 12th had no students with a positive case of Covid-19 and no students quarantined at home, and 1 staff member with a positive test with 2 staff members quarantined at home. Again, these are the number of active cases and do not include a running total.
