Latest Covid Numbers Down in School and Area

The Georgia Department of Public Health is still reporting 70 COVID-related deaths in Stephens County with 2,852 residents testing positive for the virus, since the beginning of the global pandemic.

The latest report was released Friday afternoon and had no additional deaths in the area.

The latest report has Habersham County with 136 deaths and now 4,542 positive cases of the virus.

In other neighboring counties, Franklin County has had 36 deaths and 2,261 positive cases, Rabun County is now reporting 1,427 cases and 36 deaths, Hart County is reporting 1,640 cases and 35 deaths, and Banks County is reporting 31 deaths and 1,542 cases.

According to the Georgia Department of Public Health, there have been a total of 814,820 positive cases of the virus across the state of Georgia, of those, 55,778 have been hospitalized and the total death count due to complications of the virus has now risen over 15,000 to 15,007.

The Stephens County School System’s Weekly Update for the week ending February 26th is as follows:

0 staff members quarantined at home.

4 students quarantined at home.

1 student with a positive Covid-19 test.

3,929 students currently enrolled in-person and virtually.

536 current employees.

Again, these numbers represent current active cases as of February 26,2021 and not a running total.
