Latest Area Covid Report Shows No Additional Deaths

The Georgia Department of Public Health is still reporting 71 COVID-related deaths in Stephens County with 2,874 residents testing positive for the virus, since the beginning of the global pandemic.

The latest report was released Monday afternoon and showed an addition of 14 positive cases in the area and no additional deaths.

The latest report still has Habersham County with 139 deaths and now 4,537 positive cases of the virus.

In other neighboring counties, Franklin County has had 37 deaths and 2,280 positive cases, Rabun County is now reporting 1,442 cases and 37 deaths, Hart County is reporting 1,663 cases and 35 deaths, and Banks County is reporting 33 deaths and 1,572 cases.

According to the Georgia Department of Public Health, there were 741 positive cases across the state of Georgia since Sunday, one of the lowest numbers reported. There have been a total of 829,077 positive cases of the virus across the state of Georgia, of those 39 were hospitalized, a total now of 56,836 have been hospitalized and 42 more died. bringing the total death count in the state due to complications of the virus now to 15,640.

The latest update from the Stephens County School System for the week ending March 5th had no staff members test positive or be quarantined. Two students did test positive for the virus which resulted in 31 students being quarantined at home.
