Lane Closures All This Week on I-85 Due to Construction

If you are planning to travel on I-85 anytime this week, you might want to plan to leave earlier than planned.

That’s because the Georgia Department of Transportation Crews is starting asphalt paving in both directions along the Jackson, Barrow, and Gwinnett county corridor.

That means you can expect single-lane traffic and traffic slow downs all this week through Sunday morning in Jackson and Barrow counties.

Work began last night on I-85 between SR 211 in Barrow County and SR 53 in Jackson County.

G-DOT said work will occur nightly from Monday through Thursday between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m., Friday from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. Saturday, and Saturday from 9 p.m. to 9 a.m. Sunday.

Traffic pacing activity will also occur in each direction from Monday through Saturday night.

Pacing activities will extend northbound from Hamilton Mill Road in to SR 53 and southbound from SR 53 to Spout Springs Road.

Pacing will begin at 9 p.m. nightly and continue until 5 a.m. each morning.

Single-lane closures will also be utilized along I-85 northbound from Hamilton Mill Road to Spout Springs Road in Gwinnett County and southbound from SR 211 to Spout Springs Road.

Drivers are advised to obey posted speed limits and traffic control measures inside the project limits.
