Lady Indians Take Regular Season Top Spot

The Stephens County Lady Indians will be seeded number one going into next week’s region tournament, following a close 45-43 victory over the Lady Warriors of Oconee County Tuesday evening at the Currahee Arena.

Na Na Eades led the Lady Indians with 15 points. Kiki Howard had 10 points, while Savannah Broska chipped in with 9 points, Renajah Verdell had six points and Brooklyn Steeple had four points. Sybille Foucart and LaNaya Scott each had 11 points for Oconee County.

The Lady Indians are now 19-5 for the season and 6-1 in Region 8-Quad A. Oconee County drops to 9-15 and 3-5 in region play.

The Stephens County boys lost their seventh game in a row, dropping a tough 64-60 contest in the second game. Tyrese Mackie poured in 19 points for the Indians while Kenny Colwell chipped in with 15 and Chris Sinclair had 11.

The Indians are now 7-17 overall and 1-6 in region play.

The Indians and Lady Indians close out the regular season at the Arena Friday night, hosting the Titans of North Oconee. Game time is 7PM and air time on WNEG Radio will 6:45PM.
