Lady Indians split pair of early-week games

The Stephens County Lady Indians softball team split back-to-back games Monday and Tuesday nights.  Stephens County lost Monday’s non-region game at Madison County, 15 to 9.  The Lady Indians collected 14 hits in the game, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Lady Red Raiders.  Carson Stowe, Hallee Shirley, Nyleigh Hutto, Fayeth Ivester, and Carley Funderburke each collected 2 hits.

On Tuesday night, Nyleigh Hutto had 3 hits in 3 at bats as Stephens County defeated Hart County, 6 to 4, in a home Region 8-AAA contest.  The Lady Indians accumulated 10 hits in the game.  Riley Walker earned the win on the mound giving up 9 hits, 3 runs, and striking out 4 over 6 1/3 innings.

Stephens County’s next game comes up tonight (Thurs) as they host Franklin County.  The Junior Varsity plays at 4 o’clock with the Varsity game starting at 6 p.m.
