Lady Indians split double-header with Habersham, will travel to St. Pius tonight

The Stephens County Lady Indians softball team split a double-header with Habersham Central Wednesday in Mt. Airy.

In the first game, Stephens County won 6 to 3 as Allie Huff earned the win for the Lady Indians.

She allowed five hits and three runs over four innings, striking out two and walking none.

Emma Whitfield threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Whitfield recorded the last nine outs to earn the save for Stephens County.

The Lady Indians had five hits led by Samara Walker, Kasey Westmoreland, Brenna McCall, Aly Singletary, and Ashton Ayers.

Stephens County lost the second game, 1 to 0.

Emma Whitfield pitched well but the Lady Indians could not score.

Whitfield took the loss allowing six hits and one run while striking out six and walking none in six innings of work.

Stephens County collected six hits.

Ashton Ayers led the Lady Indians with three hits in three at bats.

Stephens County is now 5 & 5 on the season and will travel to St. Pius later today for a region game.
