Lady Indians shutout St. Pius, 12-0

Emma Whitfield threw a shutout on the road to lead the Stephens County Lady Indians softball team past St. Pius 12-0 on Thursday.  Ashton Ayers led Stephens County by driving in five runs.  She went 3-for-3 at the plate.  Ayers drove in runs on a triple in the first, a single in the second, and a single in the fourth.

The Lady Indians got on the board in the first inning when Tyra Hunter doubled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.  Stephens County scored five runs in the second inning.  Whitfield got the win for the Lady Indians. She lasted five innings, allowing one hit and no runs while striking out seven and walking none.

Stephens County got one home run on the day.  Aly Singletary had a four bagger in the fifth inning.  The Lady Indians racked up 13 hits on the day.  Ayers, Singletary, Hunter, and Jasmine Lowery all managed multiple hits.  Stephens County was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error.

Stephens County improves to 6 & 5 overall and 2 & 2 in region play.  The Lady Indians will be back in action Tuesday as they travel to North Hall for a non-region contest.
