Lady Indians basketball team starts season with a win

The Stephens County Lady Indians basketball team started their season with a win Tuesday night at home in the Currahee Arena.

They hosted Towns County and won, 59-45.

NaeNae Eades led the Lady Indians with 17 points, Anaiah Wilson had 14, and Bree Taylor had 12.

Coach Scott Strickland said he was very proud of his team’s defensive effort, and the Lady Indians played hard the entire game.

Stephens County will play in a tournament at East Jackson beginning Saturday.

The Stephens County Junior Varsity Girls also won Tuesday night, 49-8, over Towns County.

The leading scorer was Savana Broska with 16 points, followed by Kiarra Howard with 14 points.

The Indian boys will play their first game this Saturday at North Gwinnett against East Hall.
