Kentucky man arrested, passenger unbuckled

A Kentucky man was arrested after deputies spotted his unbuckled passenger.

Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley, recently, told WNEG News about the incident.

According to Shirley, deputies had observed a vehicle whose passenger was not wearing their seatbelt, prompting deputies to perform a traffic stop at the intersection of High Point Avenue and East Whitman Street, in Toccoa.

While speaking to the driver, identified as Kenneth Clark, 47, of Kentucky, investigators noticed a marijuana cigarette sitting in plain view on the center console of the truck.

Deputies then had Clark and the passenger exit the vehicle, where they were able to recover the marijuana and conducted a search of the rest of the vehicle.

As Deputies searched the vehicle, they located and collected as evidence, a firearm and marijuana edibles, in the form of a piece of THC candy.

Clark was arrested and transported to the Stephens County Jail.

He was charged with possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, possession of a schedule I controlled substance (THC Edible) and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Clark was later released on a $21,000 bond.
