John Michael Mooney

John Michael Mooney, age 33, went to join the heavenly choir on Tuesday, September 28, 2021.

John was born on August 3, 1988 to Michael and Yvonne Fricks Mooney at only 24 weeks gestation.  His life from conception was a testament to God’s Grace.  Given a 0 % chance of survival, John fought and beat the odds placed against him from the beginning.  John was later joined by his younger brother Joshua, who became his lifelong best friend.  John battled lung issues throughout his life, and received a double lung transplant in September of 2012.  This was the same year he was to graduate from Southeastern University with a double major in Communications and History.  He came back and fulfilled the requirements and graduated with honors, the following year.  John loved singing and acting.  He loved his family, his friends, and his church.  He loved most the act of worshipping his Savior, Jesus Christ.  John held many accomplishments in the field of speech and acting, but his greatest accomplishment was being a genuinely kind person who showed forth the love of Jesus.  In the end, John never thought of himself, he only expressed concern for the family he loved the most.

John was preceded in death by his loving grandparents, Cline and Maxine Fricks and Leonard and Ruby Mooney.

He is survived by his parents, Michael and Yvonne; brother and sister-in-law, Josh and Lori; niece and nephew, whom he adored, Cora and Reggie; aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.

The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 6pm – 8pm Saturday, October 2, 2021.

Funeral services will be held at three o’clock Sunday, October 3, 2021 from Chapel of Whitlock Mortuary.

Entombment will follow at Roselane Mausoleum.
