John Douglas Meeks

John Douglas Meeks, age 80, died of natural causes on March 30, 2023 in Tucker, Georgia.

Doug is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia of Tucker GA; his loving son, John Samuel of Dallas GA and his dear daughter-in-law Heather LeCroy Meeks of Dallas GA; niece, Marilyn Norris of Hartwell GA; two grandsons, Jared Douglas of Loganville GA and Braden Patrick of Dallas GA.

He is preceded in death by his father, Jesse James Meeks of Toccoa GA; his mother, Minnie Lee Collins of Toccoa GA; his brothers and sisters, Carl Meeks (Toccoa GA), Janell Medlin (Toccoa GA) and Emily Cash (Toccoa GA).

Doug was born on August 21, 1942, in Toccoa GA to his parents, Jesse James and Minnie Lee. He graduated from Alabama Aviation Technical Institute in Ozark, AL with a degree in A & P License. At just 19 years old, Doug acquired his pilot’s license to fulfill a life-long dream of aviation and later in life, flew his own airplanes. In 1976, he moved to Tucker GA and accepted a position as an Aviation Tech at Epps Aviation where he worked for more than 35 years. In 1988, he & Pat started a church in Inman Park where they ministered to thousands for over 30 years.

Doug was a great family man and a loving father. He married Patricia in May 1970 and the couple had one child together, John Samuel.

Doug was a social man who was deeply involved in the Church and Ministry for majority of his life. He enjoyed airplanes, fishing, hunting, family and his grandsons. His family and friends will always remember him as a humble yet funny family man.

A visitation for Brother Doug Meeks will be held Monday, April 3, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Floral Hills Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 3150 Lawrenceville Highway, Tucker, GA 30084. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at 1:00 PM, 3150 Lawrenceville Highway, Tucker, GA with the burial to immediately follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
