Jamieson elected Toccoa’s Mayor, Austin Vice-Mayor

Jeanette Jamieson has been elected to serve as Toccoa’s Mayor for calendar year 2022.

During the recent Toccoa City Commission meeting, Commissioner Terry Carter made a motion to elect Jamieson to the position of Mayor and Commissioner David Austin as Vice-Mayor, with Commissioner Gail Fry seconding the motion.

Carter thanked Mayor Evan Hellenga for his time as Mayor in 2021.

“Well Mayor, first of all, I’d like to express my gratitude to yourself for serving the city so well and leading our meetings and doing an excellent job serving as Mayor for 2021 and we really appreciate all that you do, and you do it well,” he said. “With that being said, I’d like to nominate Commissioner Jeanette Jamieson as Mayor for the year 2022 and Vice Mayor as David Austin.”

At the end of the meeting, Jamieson presented a plaque to Hellenga recognizing his time as Mayor.

Jamieson and Austin will serve as Mayor and Vice-Mayor until the end of 2022; at that time, the Commission will then elect its Mayor and Vice-Mayor for 2023.
