James Matthew “Matt” Hencely

James Matthew “Matt” Hencely, age 47, of Toccoa, passed away Friday,
August 5, 2022 at his residence.

The son of Jan Garrett Hencely of Toccoa and Warren Hencely of Clarkesville, he was born May 5, 1975 in Stephens County. He will always be loved and remembered by his family and friends.  Matt was a 1993 graduate of Stephens County High School where he made many lifelong friends. His senior year, he was voted most friendly by his classmates and continued that role throughout his life. He never met a stranger and was always willing to help others.

Matt grew up attending First Baptist Church of Toccoa. After graduation, he attended Auto Diesel College in Nashville, Tennessee and graduated with an Auto Diesel Degree. He was employed with the City of Gainesville for 15 years, where he was in charge of maintenance to 423 vehicles for the Police Department. Years later, Matt and a good friend began their own
Auto Mechanic business in Gainesville which they ran for 10 years. Due to
declining health issues and working on heavy equipment, Matt moved back to Toccoa in 2019.

Graveside services Wednesday, August 31, 2022, 2 o’clock p.m. at Carnes Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with The Reverend Jerrell Beatty officiating.
