The investigation into the arrest of a Banks County School teacher is continuing according to the Banks County Sheriff’s office.

Last week, investigators arrested 54-year-old Jon Congdon who worked as a band director at Banks County High School.

Congdon has been charged with a criminal attempt to entice a minor for indecent purposes and could face other charges.

According to Banks County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, Congdon was arrested last week after an investigation uncovered his relationship with a juvenile.

According to the Banks County Sheriff’s Office, the arrest came after the Banks County School System requested an investigation on Oct. 14, regarding an inappropriate relationship between an educator and a student.

After investigation, the Banks County Sheriff’s Office determined the incident was isolated, involving one juvenile victim.

However, since then, Banks County Sheriff Carlton Speed announced that while the incident is believed to be the only occurrence this year, the Banks County Sheriff’s Office is thoroughly investigating any potential additional incidents.

If you know of, or are a previous victim, Speed asks that you visit the Banks County Sheriff’s Office or contact Investigator Michael Alford.

Investigator Alford can be reached by email at [email protected] or at 706-677-2248 ext. 4015 (Office) or 706-949-6668 (Cell).
