Indians Waters Kicks Late FG for Comeback Win at Habersham Central

The Stephens County Indians recovered a late onside kick leading to a Luke Waters 31-yard field goal and came away with a 31-29 victory over Habersham Central in the season opener on Friday night in Mt. Airy.

The Indians trailed in the 2nd half 29-13 but a Javon Gordon 8-yd touchdown run and the 2nd touchdown pass from Tripp Underwood to Jasec Smith led to Waters heroics. Underwood and Smith also connected on a 2-pt conversion that pulled the Indians with one at 29-28.

Habersham Central’s Carson Parker and Zeke Whittington also connected on two touchdown passes in each half.

Stephens County will host Rabun County in the home opener next Friday.
