Indians to face Wesleyan Wolves in Round 2 tonight

The Stephens County Indians will host the Wesleyan Wolves in the second round of the State AAA Football Playoffs tonight. Kickoff will be at 7:30 p.m.

Wesleyan is the number 2 team from Region 7-AAA, with a record of 8 & 3. They defeated Ringgold in the first round, 35 to 14. 

Stephens County is the Region 8-AAA champ with an overall record of 10 & 1. Last Friday night, the Indians defeated Carver of Atlanta in a home game in the first round, 31 to 13. 

The Indians and Wesleyan played in the first round of the playoffs last year with Stephens County winning, 51 to 14.

Last night on the Crunch Time radio show, Stephens County’s Tight Ends Coach, Gordon Thigpen, said unlike last year’s team, Wesleyan will be coming to Toccoa tonight and playing with a lot of confidence.

Coverage on 93.1 FM and AM 630 WNEG starts at 5:30 today with the Indian Tailgate Show live from The Reservation. Coach’s Corner starts at 7 p.m., with pre- game at 7:15.

In other playoff action for Region 8-AAA teams tonight, Oconee County will travel to Lumpkin County and  Monroe Area will host Gilmer County.

In other area state playoff matchups tonight, Gainesville will host Blessed Trinity, Jefferson will host Hiram, Rabun County will travel to Whitefield Academy, Commerce will host Dade County, and Elbert County will play at Trion.
