Indians Teams Fall to Top Rated Lions

The Stephens County Lady Indians fell to one of the nation’s top teams-Hebron Christian Academy 89-23 Tuesday night in Dacula.

The Lady Lions, rated #11 in the country and #1 in the state of Georgia, played great defense with steals that led to easy baskets. Hebron Christian scored 34 points in the first quarter and led 51-16 at the half.

The Lady Lions, now 5-0 in region-8 play and 18-2 overall, placed six players in double figures led by Danielle Osho with 15 points and Amiya Porter with 14.

A’Niya Mayweather led Stephens County with 10 points.

The Lady Indians fall to 1-4 in the region and 3-16 overall.

In the boys’ contest, the #3 ranked team in the state Hebron Christian broke open a tight game in the 3rd quarter and took a 68-57 win over Stephens County.

Free throws were the difference in the game with the Lions going 16 for 17 from the line and the Indians shooting just 10 for 26.

Mataj Glover led the Lions with 23 points, including 19 in the 2nd half. Blake Wilson added 16 and Devon McField 12 for Hebron Christian now 5-0 in the region and 17-1 overall.

Stephens County was led by Nuri Winters with 23 points and Javin Gordon with 15.

The Indians fall to 1-4 in the region and 7-11 overall.

Stephens County will travel to Franklin County on Friday to start the 2nd half of the region season. Both Franklin County teams will be looking to bounce back from losses to Hart County on Tuesday night.
