Indians Take Two from East Jackson

The Stephens County boys and girls basketball teams picked up important region wins Saturday night at home at the Currahee Arena against East Jackson.

In the girl’s game, NaNa Eades led all scorers with 17 points in a 45-28 victory over the Lady Eagles. In the process, Eades scored her 1000th career point for the Lady Indians in her high school career. Renajah Verdell chipped in with 13 points.

The win was the third region win against one loss while the Lady Eagles of East Jackson lost their first region game. Haven Rollins scored nine points for East Jackson.

In the boy’s game, Kenny Colwell scored 20 of his 25 points in the first half, leading the Indians to a 63-45 victory. D.J. Hampton had 14 points and Tyrece Mackie had 12 in the Indian’s second region win.

Stephens County is 2-2. East Jackson is now 0-6 in region play.

The next game for the Stephens County boys will be Monday night at Monroe Area. There will be no girls game. The next girls game will be Tuesday at Oconee County. Air time on WNEG Monday evening at Monroe will be 6:45 PM.
