Indians Take Baseball Victory at East Jackson

Garrett Pless pitched a complete game gem and Stephens County used timely hitting and took advantage of walks and errors to roll to a 7-1 victory over East Jackson in Commerce on Monday.

Pless allowed just one run on one hit while striking out seven and walking just three.

Stephens County grabbed an early lead in the first inning when Dylan White was hit by a pitch and scored on Ben Stowe’s two-out double.

East Jackson tied the score in the 2nd inning when Braydon King got the Eagles lone hit and scored on a fielder’s choice groundout by Nick Carpenter.

The scored remained tied until the 5th inning when the Indians scored three runs without a hit aided by three walks, a hit batter, two errors and two wild pitches.

The Indians score three more times in the 6th inning stringing together four straight hits.

William Roush had two RBI’s and scored 2 runs to lead the offense, Stowe and Nick Randall added RBI’s, White scored three runs, and Bailey Stowe had two hits and scored a run.

Pless moves to 2-0 with the win. Aidan Holley took the loss for the Eagles who are now 5-2 with both losses coming to the Indians.

Stephens County moves to 4-1 and is scheduled to travel to Jackson County on Wednesday. WNEG will not air the game due to the broadcast of the first-round AAA state playoff basketball game at Currahee Arena vs. Wesleyan. Airtime for that game is scheduled for 6:15 P.M. with tipoff set for 6:30 P.M.
