Indians Take 5-1 Win over Cats

Stephens County’s Davis Swenson pitched a complete game allowing just a run on 3 hits and striking out 12 to lead the Indians Baseball team to a 5-1 victory over Rabun County Monday night at the Reservation.

The Indians got a run in the 1st inning when Cayden Maxwell reached on a bunt single and scored on a 2-out hit by Swenson.

The Indians added 2 more runs in the 2nd inning when Jordan Page doubled and scored on Gabe White’s double. White scored on Dawson Sorrell’s ground ball out to make the score 3-0 after 2.

The Indians would add another run in the 3rd when Swenson singled. Carson Brock, running for Swenson, stole 2nd, moved to 3rd on a groundout, and scored on a Page fly ball.

Rabun County pulled within 4-1 when Gunner Stockton singled, stole 2nd, and scored on Brady Wilson’s double.

The Indians added an insurance run in the 6th when White walked and scored on a Sorrells single.

Stephens County improves to 2-1-1 on the season. Rabun County is now 0-4.

The Indians will be back on the diamond Tuesday night when they travel to Hart County to face the Bulldogs. The game was scheduled for Wednesday, but moved due to Hart County’s boys and girls basketball teams still competing in the State AAA basketball playoffs.
