Indians Suffer First Region Loss at Jefferson

Patrick Hickox limited Stephens County to one run and 4 hits, and Lane Watkins drove in the go ahead run in the 5th inning to lead Jefferson to a 2-1 win over the Indians Monday night in Jefferson.

Stephens County got the lead in the top of the 4th when Dawson Sorrells doubled and scored on Chaz Bridges RBI single.

The Dragons came back to tie the score in the bottom of the inning on two hits and an error, and then took the lead in the 5th.

Both pitchers were outstanding. Hickox pitched the complete game striking out four with no walks to get the win. Davis Swenson suffered his first loss of the season to fall to 5-1 despite allowing only five hits in six innings, and striking out eight with only one walk.

Stephens County falls to 3-1 in Region-8 AAAA play and 17-2 overall. Jefferson improves to 3-1 in the Region and 10-6 overall.
