Indians Suffer First Defeat As Lions Roll

Franklin County’s Landon Bentley was the star on the mound and at the plate Friday night as the Lions rolled to a 10-0 win over Stephens County in five innings in Carnesville.

The Indians entered the game averaging over nine runs per contest, but Bentley limited Stephens County to just three hits and struck out eight.

Bentley also had three RBI’s including a two-run home run in the 2nd inning that got the Lions offense going. Jacob Davis added a three-run home run in the Lions six-run third inning that broke the game open.

Chaz Bridges (1-1) took the loss for the Indians pitching 2 2/3 innings allowing eight runs on seven hits and striking out seven. Zach Boyd pitched two innings of no-hit ball with two runs unearned.

Franklin County improves to 3-2 on the season. Stephens County falls to 8-1.

The Indians will be back in action with two games on Saturday in a three team doubleheader at the Reservation. Stephens County will face Cedar Shoals at 12 noon, followed by Cedar Shoals meeting Hart County, and Stephens County and Hart County will face off in the nightcap scheduled for around 5 P.M.
