Indians Step Out of Region for Win

The Stephens County Indians defeated the Commerce Tigers 8-2 Wednesday
evening at the Reservation in a non-region contest.

The Tigers jumped out to a 2-0 lead when Mason Anderson hit a home run in the
top of the first inning, but Indians pitching did not allow a run after that.
Stephens County got a couple of runs in the bottom of the first inning on three
hits. The Indians sent eight men to the plate in the third inning with four of them
scoring. Single runs in the fourth and sixth innings topped out the scoring.

Ethan Smith and Jax Higgins each had two RBIs while William Roush, Konnor
Loudermilk and Tyler Zigan each knocked in a run.

Starter Konnor Loudermilk went three and two-third innings for Stephens County
and Findley Ward finished the game. In all, Indians pitching struck out 12
Commerce Tiger hitters while allowing just five hits.

Tiger starter Michael Purvis went three and two third innings, followed by Evan
Martinez and Max Mullis.

Stephens County is now 10-14 on the season. Their next action will be in region
8-AAA when the Franklin County Lions come in Tuesday. Game time is 5:55 P.M. with
airtime on WNEG at approximately 5:45 P.M.
