Indians Runaway from Rabun

Ty Nails scored 19 of his game high 32 points in the third quarter and the Stephens County Indians improved to 6-0 on the season cruising to a 91-52 victory over Rabun County Tuesday night at Currahee Arena.

The Wildcats played the game with a shortened roster due to the football team still playing and vying for a AA State Championship this weekend.

Stephens County had four players in double figures with Montavis Thornton adding 21 points, and De’Undra Singleton and Chaz Bridges 12 each.

Tevan Dixon led the Wildcats, now 0-7 on the season, with 17 points.

It was the opposite in the girls contest as Rabun County, last year’s state runner-up in Class AA, took an 81-41 win over the Stephens County Lady Indians.

Georgia Stockton led all scorers with 24 points and Kaitlyn Coleman added 16 to lead the Lady Cats.

Tykia Thompson scored 17 points, and Treasure Lone had 10 to lead Stephens County.

The Lady Indians fall to 4-5 on the season. The Lady Cats improved to 7-0.

Friday night opens Region play for the Indians and it promises to be a huge match-up at the Currahee Arena between two top five AAAA teams when the Stephens County boys host St. Pius. St. Pius is 7-1 on the season with the lone loss coming to a team from Memphis.

The varsity double header begins at 7 P.M. with the girls game followed by the boys at approximately 8:30. Airtime is set for 6:45 P.M. on WNEG and at wnegradio.com.
